Line Counter

Count total, non-empty and empty lines in text.

Results are provided for general informational use. Verify important financial, health or legal figures before relying on them.

About this Line Counter

The Line Counter reports how many lines are present in a text block and separates non-empty lines from blank ones. It is useful for lists, code snippets, data cleanup and bulk text preparation.

How the calculation works

The tool splits text at line breaks and tests each line after trimming whitespace. An entirely empty text box is treated as zero lines.

How to use it

  1. Paste or type text into the box.
  2. The counters update automatically.
  3. Review total, non-empty and blank line counts.

Practical example

A three-item list with one blank line contains four total lines, three non-empty lines and one blank line.

Frequently asked questions

Are whitespace-only lines blank?
