About this Work Hours Calculator

The Work Hours Calculator measures a shift from start time to end time and subtracts an optional unpaid break. It also handles a shift that passes midnight, making it useful for simple timesheet checks.

How the calculation works

The raw duration is calculated in minutes. If the end time is earlier, the tool assumes the shift ends the next day. Break minutes are then subtracted from the duration.

How to use it

  1. Enter shift start and end times.
  2. Enter unpaid break minutes, if any.
  3. Calculate to see paid hours and total paid minutes.

Practical example

A 09:00 to 17:30 shift with a 30-minute break produces 8 paid hours.
